We celebrated our official opening on Monday 2nd June with a children’s fancy dress competition to raise money for the Naomi House Children’s Hospice. Children from The Cottages Day Nursery dressed up as their favourite characters and the winner, Sam Pilkington from Newtown, won free haircuts for his family with a rip-roaring lion outfit.
The competition was judged by Paul Morgan from Naomi House and took place at Headroom’s brand new salon in Inch’s Yard on Market Street in Newbury. In addition, on Tuesday 3rd June, Headroom’s owners Stephanie Taylor and Eddie Smyth are contributing 50% of their takings to Naomi House Children’s Hospice.
Stephanie Taylor, Co-Owner of Headroom said, “We’re really excited to be opening our own salon. Eddie and I have been cutting hair in Newbury for a combined total of 50 years, so it felt right to do something that involved the community and supports Naomi House. We hope people will give us the chance to impress and those that booked in for Tuesday 3rd June played a big part with half the money for their haircut going to Naomi House as well!”
Peter Abrahams, Supporter Services Team Leader at Naomi House Children’s Hospice, said: “Steff and Eddie have been fantastic, we’re delighted they’ve chosen to combine their grand opening with a fundraiser in Support of Naomi House. They are talented hairdressers and lovely people – I expect their appointment book will fill up fast!”
